Sheep Dreamzzz Story & Status

At its peak, Sheep Dreamzzz Baby Blankets had from 10-20 women knitting one baby blanket per week (and on occasion, loveys as well). All of these ladies were the principal providers for their families in their small, rural Nicaraguan town. They received ALL of the profits.

In this photo Brenda and Carla are working together to add the faces and feet to the blue sheep on a white blanket. They received not just income but also the dignity that comes with earning through the work of their hands.

Our knitters were paid every Friday for the blanket they made that week. Once a month or quarter we paid additional bonuses.

Our 501(c) (3) non-profit, Sheep Not Goats, wrapped up in December 2024, and along with this we ended the Sheep Dreamzz knitting project. We paid the knitters' future bonuses in advance and are now selling our remaining inventory. In December 2025 we sent additional money to them and will continue to send assistance whenever buyers add a donation to their purchase.

We started making loveys to give our knitters additional work to do. We didn't quite have the sales volume to authorize two full-size blankets each week, but for a day or so of additional knitting they could make a 1/4-size blanket. We've always added the minky backs and satin borders in the US and package them with a fluffy doll.

Here's a bit more background information about the charitable work.

Each of our blankets included a card showing who made it and telling a little bit about her. Here they are:
